Luxury B&B Colwell Bay

Welcome to our beautiful B&B - Rockstone Cottage

Tucked away in the gorgeous Colwell Bay on the Isle of Wight, Rockstone Cottage is your perfect escape by the sea. Just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Wightlink ferry terminal at Yarmouth (only two miles away), you can be here in no time, leaving the hustle and bustle behind.

We’re a mere 4-minute stroll from Colwell Bay’s sandy beach and the coastal path – ideal for walkers, beach lovers, and sunset chasers. Fancy a bite to eat? You’ll find plenty of cracking restaurants such as The Hut and The Waterfront, and local pubs like The Red Lion all within walking distance. Plus, there’s a bus stop at the end of the road (Number 7 route) if you fancy exploring further afield.

You can also witness the best views of the round the island sailing regatta which is one of many sailing events that take place throughout the year.

Our 18th-century cottage is adults-only, so you can count on a relaxed vibe. Each of our six en-suite rooms is packed with character and comes with free  superfast Wi-Fi. And let’s talk breakfast – think locally sourced goodies and homemade preserves to set you up for the day.

Why You’ll Love It Here

For a close-up view of the Needles and panoramic views of the coloured Alum Bay cliffs, take one of the pleasure boats from the jetty for a dramatic trip around the landmarks.

The Needles Lighthouse on the Isle of Wight is an impressive sight. It stands boldly at the end of the outermost chalk stack where the weather sweeps in from the west, with howling gales and lashing rain.

The Needles Rocks are some of the most photographed groups of rocks in the world. This row of three distinctive chalk stacks features in all the classic views of the Isle of Wight – a truly unforgettable image.

The name ‘Needles’ is believed to have been derived from a slender tapering rock pinnacle that was formerly situated a little to the north, on the Alum Bay side of the present central rock.

The approach from Lymington on the Wightlink ferry is perhaps the prettiest of all the Solent crossings and it is the second smallest town in Great Britain, so why not visit the characterful community of Yarmouth.

From its lovely harbour to its ancient church and picturesque pier, this West Wight town has something for everyone.

There are plenty of things to do, some great pubs, cafes and restaurants and lots of super attractions in the area for all the family.

Many Islanders think West is Best (usually those who live there!) and it is hard to argue, Yarmouth is a very special place.

.

Colwell Bay offers spectacular views back across the Solent to mainland England. It is a small, easily-accessible beach with clear, calm waters and gently sloping sand and shingle, making it an ideal beach for swimming.

The beach is down a short road from the main Yarmouth to Totland road, there is a good sized car park with toilets and access for the disabled is good. There is a lovely walk from here along the sea wall to Totland Beach with stunning views across the Solent.

Included in the panoramic views from here across the Solent is the striking Hurst Castle, and just along the Island coast to the right you can spy the former Victorian gun tower of Fort Albert. This is an ideal place to see yachts sailing by on the Solent waters as the gap between the Isle of Wight and the mainland at this point is relatively narrow.

TOP TIP:
Make sure you check the tide tables as there is very little beach at high tide – although you can sit on the sea wall, or in one of the cafes, and wait for it to recede.
